Sustainable Finance Specialist

As a sustainable finance specialist at WWF International, Joanne provides technical guidance and thought-leadership to WWF offices on various topics including net zero portfolio alignment, green financial solutions, sustainable infrastructure finance and natural capital. She coordinates WWF’s position and input on key ESG issues, and supports building technical capacity in Asia Pacific and Africa. She has led a number of research projects on sustainable finance, focusing on the connection between environmental/climate/nature-related risks and financial performance. More recently she is researching and analyzing tools and methodologies that assess environmental footprints of financial portfolios.

Prior to WWF, Joanne worked at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi, specializing in renewable energy finance. Before moving to the UAE, she worked at the United Nations Environment Programme, Ceres and GreenWorld Capital in the US. Joanne is a CFA Charterholder with a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the University of Pennsylvania.
