Chris leads HSBC global strategy on carbon markets. He works closely with senior management across the bank to develop carbon market solutions that support the transition to net zero. He drives HSBC external engagement with regulators, central banks and governments on carbon markets policies, carbon offsets and nature-based solutions, whilst also providing strategic advice and thought leadership to customers and internal stakeholders.
Prior to this role, Chris led The Nature Conservancy’s work on carbon markets around the world. This included engagement on related policy at both international and national levels, working in partnership with several market-shaping multinational companies, and developing a portfolio of high-quality carbon credit generating projects. He sat on the advisory boards of a variety of initiatives including the Verified Carbon Standard, the Natural Climate Solutions Alliance, and the Africa Forest Carbon Catalyst.
Prior to joining The Nature Conservancy, he was the Deputy CEO of the Climate Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), which supported developing country partners integrate climate change into their economic development and planning.
