Ben is the Head of Legal, Asia for ANZ Bank, based in Hong Kong. In his role Ben is responsible for the provision of legal advice for all aspects of ANZ’s operations throughout Asia and the Middle East. He manages a team of lawyers spread through China, Indonesia, Taiwan, India, Vietnam and Cambodia as well as the regional hubs, Hong Kong and Singapore. His coverage also includes ANZ’s businesses in Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and the Middle East.

Ben took up his current role in May of 2012 having originally joined ANZ on secondment in November 2011. Ben double-hats as the Head of Legal, Hong Kong and was also the Head of Compliance, Hong Kong for one year.

Ben completed his studies at the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia and started work as a lawyer in the City of London. He worked in the Melbourne and Hong Kong offices of Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood Mallesons) for over 6 years and had two stints at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong, before a brief return to private practice in Australia.

Ben is a member of ANZ’s International Leadership Team, oversees the region’s Company Secretarial functions and works closely with the Compliance, Partnerships and Strategy teams as well as the regional CEOs.
