Event Brief
The 9th edition of the Belt and Road Summit jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council will be held in Hong Kong on 11-12 September 2024.
Since its inception in 2016, the Summit has been gathering senior government officials and influential business leaders from countries and regions along and beyond the Belt and Road to exchange insights on multilateral collaboration and explore concrete partnership. Marking the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the 2023 edition featured more than 90 heavyweight speakers and attracted close to 6,000 participants from over 70 countries and regions, while over 800 one-to-one business matching meetings were arranged during the Summit.
Entering a new decade of the Belt and Road Initiative, the pursuit of multidimensional connectivity and development of an open world economy will continue to be key for the international business community to capture the many opportunities under the latest global landscape. The upcoming Summit will build on the concrete achievement in the past years to explore areas with promising prospects arising from the Initiative, connect potential business partners along the Belt and Road and facilitate concrete partnerships, fully leveraging Hong Kong’s long-established position as an effective commercial platform for Belt and Road opportunities as well as the city’s role as both a “super-connector” and a “super value-adder” for global businesses.
