Dong Gang is Morgan Stanley’s Head of China Compliance and member of Morgan Stanley’s China Management Committee and China Risk Management Committee. He supervises the compliance work of Morgan Stanley’s China legal entities, including Morgan Stanley’s wholly-owned commercial bank in China, China securities JV, China mutual fund JV, RMB Private Equity Fund and QDLP fund. Prior to this role, Dong Gang was Morgan Stanley’s Greater China legal counsel from 2011 to May 2017. In 2018, he was awarded by “Chief Legal Officer” Magazine as Top 10 China Chief Compliance Officer.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2011, Dong Gang worked in the Beijing offices of Shearman & Sterling and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He obtained a bachelor of law degree and a master of international economy law degree from China University of Political Science and Law as well as a master of law degree of Columbia University School of Law in New York, where he was granted Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Dong Gang is qualified as both a PRC lawyer and a US lawyer of New York State.

Dong Gang is also an adjunct professor of Peking University School of Transactional Law, a mentor of graduate students of Tsinghua University School of Law, a mentor of graduate students of Beijing Foreign Studies School of Law and a mentor of Fudan University School of Law.

Dong Gang is also an arbitrator of CIETAC (China International Economy and Trade Arbitration Commission), Beijing Arbitration Commission and Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration.
