Charles Chang is S&P Global Ratings’ Country Lead and spokesperson for Greater China corporates. He leads S&P’s research across key sectors and situations in China, serves on China’s sovereign and corporate rating committees, and faces investors, regulators, and the media on behalf of the firm globally.

Charles joined S&P Global from Bloomberg Intelligence, where he headed Asia SOE, LGFV and Distressed coverage.  Prior to that, he spent four years at BNP and five years at Credit Suisse as the Head of Asia Credit Research, and covered China Property and China High Yield. Before CS, Charles worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, as the Senior Fixed Income Analyst on China Property, at J.P.

Morgan, in Credit Syndicate and Credit Structuring, and at Fitch Ratings, as the Lead Analyst on Power and Oil & Gas and ABS/NPL/CLO transactions.

Charles began his career at the World Bank in Washington DC as a Junior Economist focused on Asia and Latin America.

He received a M.A. in International Finance and Economics from Johns Hopkins, and a B.S. in Managerial Economics and a B.A. in International Relations from the University of California at Davis. He is based in Hong Kong.
